Vulkania Crypto League Basics

What is the Vulkania Crypto League ?

The Vulkania Crypto League is an interactive management-style game that uses the performance of a player’s “team” of tokens to determine that user’s position among other players on a leaderboard. Through project selection and use of unique bonuses applied to the player’s “team” of tokens, players strategize how to achieve higher scores in an attempt to climb the leaderboard and win VLK tokens as well as the tokens of our listed partners participating as sponsors to the game events.

What is a round?

The league is divided into seasons and then seasons are further divided into rounds as a means to determine when leaderboard positions are finalized and when leaderboard resets occur.

A round typically lasts 10 days but may have shorter or longer versions for unique promotions or simply to re-sync the the end of a season. During a round players manage their team to earn points to rank higher on the round’s leaderboard when compared against other players. At the end of the round, rewards are paid to the first 50 players in the round’s leaderboard. At the end of the round, the round’s leaderboard data will be added to the season’s leaderboard and the round’s leaderboard will be publicly archived. The next round’s leaderboard will start blank and is completely separate from the previous round’s leaderboard.

What is a season?

The league is divided into seasons and then seasons are further divided into rounds as a means to determine when leaderboard positions are finalized and when leaderboard resets occur.

A season consists of multiple rounds and spans one calendar quarter (3 months). Similar to rounds, a ranking by season is made by adding all the points obtained during the rounds within the season. At the end of the season rewards are offered to the first 50 players of the ranking. At the end of the season, the season’s leaderboard will be publicly archived. The next season’s leaderboard will start blank and is completely separate from the previous season’s leaderboard.

What is a team?

At the start of each round, the player builds their team of projects.

A team is composed of 5 projects listed on Vulkania.io: 4 are randomly assigned to the player at round registration and 1 can be chosen by the player, though additional projects that were previously randomly selected for the player can be directly chosen by the player using unique bonuses.

This team of projects earns points for the player based on daily change in dashboard visits, price and number of transactions during the round.

Tiers

What Are Player Tiers?

Player tiers reward holders of the VLK token. Higher tiers unlock powerful gameplay tools while still ensuring balanced gameplay persists. Though it is completely free to play, holding VLK tokens in your connected wallet allows the player to receive additional bonuses allowing them to better manage their team and potentially climb higher on the leaderboard.

Additionally players* in bronze tier Bronze, silver tier Silver and Gold tier Gold tiers will have the chance to participate in a draw at the end of the round to win a “spot prize” (6 winners). The amount of the reward is influenced by the player’s tier and is in addition to any prizes earned from the player’s leaderboard position.

*Podium finisher’s are excluded from the spot prize draw.

How to Activate A Tier?

No action is required to activate a tier. You only need to have a certain number of VLK tokens within the connected wallet:

  • Between 0 and 249 VLK for the “ Basic” tier
  • Between 250 and 999 VLK for the “bronze tier Bronze” tier
  • Between 1,000 and 4,999 VLK for the “silver tier Silver” tier
  • 5,000 VLK or more for the “Gold tier Gold” tier

The player’s VLK balance is checked each time the user logs in and their tier adjusted appropriately.

Example: A player with 5,000 VLK at the beginning of a round would be in the Gold tier. If he decides to transfer or sell 500 VLK from that connected wallet, his tier would be reduced from Gold to Silver upon his next login to the dApp.

How Do I Change My Tier?

No action is required to change your tier other than your VLK token balance in the connected wallet.

Registration & Play

How to register?

Registration and play are completely free.

Simply connect your Metamask (desktop only), Wallet connect,  Binance Chain Wallet, Trust Wallet (mobile only) and Coinbase Wallet (mobile only) to our dApp and register for a round displayed on https://vulkania.io/league/.

Wallet connections are “read-only” permissions meaning the connection only reads your VLK token balance. You do not need to own any VLK tokens to register or play. Though, depending on the number of VLK tokens held in the wallet, you will automatically be assigned a tier which gives you access to certain bonuses in the game.

How to Play?

After you register for a round, you will first need to wait for the round to start. Once the round starts, your selected projects will begin accumulating points automatically. Now it will be up to you to earn your bonuses (by logging in at least once per day) and apply those bonuses in strategically impactful ways to improve your score.

What types of wallets can I connect to?

Simply connect your Metamask (desktop only), Wallet connect,  Binance Chain Wallet, Trust Wallet (mobile only) and Coinbase Wallet (mobile only) to our dApp and register for a round to play.

Wallet connections are “read-only” permissions meaning the connection only reads your VLK token balance.

How do I build my team?

Click on the “Register” button to sign up for an upcoming round and create your team. If your wallet is not connected, you will be prompted to connect your wallet before being able to register.

Each team consists of 4 randomly selected projects and 1 project manually chosen by the player.

Once the team is formed, it cannot be changed until the end of the round with one exception: Switch bonuses.

“Switch” bonuses allow players to replace a project within their team during the round.

Points

How points are calculated?

Points are calculated every hour based on three criteria:

  • the change of the number of visits on the Vulkania.io dashboard (%)
  • the change of the price of the cryptocurrency (%)
  • the change of “on chain” transactions of the cryptocurrency (%)

To globally balance the scores obtained for each criteria, points are calculated as follows:

  • Visits: +10% = 1 point, capped at 50 points per hour (excluding use of boosts)
  • Price: +1% = 5 points, capped at 100 points per hour (excluding use of boosts)
  • Transactions: +1% = 1 point, capped at 100 points per hour (excluding use of boosts)

The number of points per project per hour is capped at 250 (excluding use of boosts).

The points cannot be negative and so points will never be subtracted from a player’s point total.

The points are whole numbers: the values are rounded.

How do I earn points?

Your selected projects will begin accumulating points automatically at the start of the round should any of the 3 metrics for any of your projects be positive.

Points are calculated every hour based on three criteria:

  • the change of the price of the cryptocurrency (%)
  • the change of “on chain” transactions of the cryptocurrency (%)
  • the change of the number of visits on the Vulkania.io dashboard (%)

You can directly influence your project’s points in two ways:

One method is to share your projects’ dashboards to increase their number of visits. Everytime a unique user visits the dashboard of a project on your team, they influence the percentage change of the number of dashboard visits for that day.

Another method is to use your boosts on your team tokens to multiply the number of points obtained.

Can I lose points?

No, points earned in a round cannot be lost or subtracted from your round or season totals.

The points cannot be negative and so points will never be subtracted from a player’s point total. Negative values on the change of a project’s price, transactions or dashboard visits equate to a zero on your point calculation for that metric for that project. Never will a negative metric subtract points from your total.

Bonuses

What are bonuses?

There are three unique types of bonuses:

Boosts

The “boost” type bonuses allow a player to multiply the number of points obtained during a 24-hour period on one of the 3 metrics used to calculate points. There are 3 different boosts, each with 3 different strengths:

  • Price boost Boosts price points by 25, 50 or 75% (or 1.25x, 1.50x, 1.75x)
  • Visit boost Boosts visit points by 25, 50 or 75% (or 1.25x, 1.50x, 1.75x)
  • Transactions boost Boosts transfer points by 25, 50 or 75% (or 1.25x, 1.50x, 1.75x)
  • X2 multiplier Multiplies by 2 an active boost.

Switches

The “switch” type bonuses allow a player to replace the tokens of your team. There are 2 types of switches:

  • The “selected switch” allows the player to choose the project that will replace another project currently on the player’s team.
  • random switch The “random switch” replaces the chosen project currently on the player’s team with a randomly selected token.

Boost remover

The “boost remover” switch remover allows the player to delete an active boost in order to assign another one that would yield more points.

New bonuses are distributed every day when the player logs in. The number of bonuses received are determined by the player’s tier.

When are the bonuses distributed?

The bonuses, switches and boosts, are first distributed when the player registers for the round. Additional boosts are distributed each day of the round, provided that the player logs in and goes to his team page.

The number and type of bonuses awarded depends on the player’s tier.

How are the bonuses distributed?

The type of bonuses affected depend on the player’s tier:

Basic Bronze Silver Gold

How do I use the bonuses?

By clicking on a bonus, a popup allowing you to select the token to assign the boost or to switch opens. Simply confirm the selection to activate the bonus to the assigned project on your team.

Only one bonus per token can be activated at a time.

The boosts are active for 24 hours or up to the end of the round, whichever is sooner.

Rewards

What rewards can I earn?

Three types of rewards can be earned:

  • The base reward, in VLK, is distributed at the end of the round to the top 50 players in the round leaderboard.
  • The spot reward can be in VLK or in the cryptocurrency that sponsors the round. It is distributed randomly to 3 Gold players*, 2 Silver players* and 1 Bronze player*. Leaderboard position has no influence on this selection. The winner selection is purely random.
  • The season reward is distributed at the end of the season to the top 50 players in the season leaderboard.

Podium finisher’s are excluded from the spot prize draw.
